A man named Altaf from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, died by suicide linked to blackmail from a married woman he had an affair with. His family reported ongoing harassment and emotional distress that culminated in his tragic decision, with inadequate police support for their claims of abuse. Altaf recorded his last moments, expressing profound pain and a plea for understanding before he took his life.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, a tragic incident occurred involving a man named Altaf, who died by suicide in Thane. This heartbreaking event is reportedly linked to blackmail stemming from an affair with a married woman, who allegedly manipulated him by claiming pregnancy and demanding money. Videos captured by Altaf document his desperate moments, revealing his emotional and mental anguish before his tragic decision.

Altaf’s family asserts that he had moved back to Thane after the death of his mother, eventually engaging in a relationship with a local married woman. Once they discovered this affair, they reprimanded him and encouraged him to return to Thane. However, even after his return, he faced relentless harassment from the woman, who allegedly threatened him with legal repercussions if he did not comply with her financial demands ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh, leading to his suicide.

Before taking his life, Altaf contacted the woman via video call, expressing his suffering directly to her. His sister Reshma claims that upon hearing his distress, the woman callously responded that she would not be affected by his death. Following his demise, the family learned of the harassment and blackmail that had been plaguing him, prompting them to seek police intervention.

Despite their requests for help, both Maharashtra and Unnao police departments exchanged jurisdiction responsibilities, providing inadequate support for the grieving family. They previously captured the woman and brought her to the station, yet no action was taken against her. In the recorded videos, Altaf can be heard in despair stating, “I will finish myself in this way. I have lived long enough. No more.” This poignant expression of pain highlights the grave circumstances he faced.

In a separate recording, he mentioned, “I am eating rat poison. If something happens, let my family know.” The emotional turmoil is palpable in his words: “I am not doing drama. I am in pain. You don’t understand it. I am playing with my blood. This is not drama.” The response from the accused woman afterward was dismissive, as she stated, “It is not my fault,” indicating a lack of accountability in this tragic situation.

Altaf’s suicide underscores the dire consequences of emotional and psychological manipulation, particularly in scenarios involving abusive relationships. The failure of law enforcement to assist the family further emphasizes the systemic issues regarding support for victims of such circumstances. As communities strive to raise mental health awareness, it is vital to address situations like Altaf’s, enabling appropriate interventions before tragedies occur.
