A priest in Madhya Pradesh was assaulted by a group of 30 individuals led by Jitu Raghuvanshi after denying them entry into the Mata Tekri temple post-midnight. The priest reported threats and physical violence. Police are investigating the incident, aided by surveillance footage.

In Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas, a priest was assaulted by approximately 30 individuals on the premises of the Mata Tekri temple for refusing them entry after closing hours. This incident occurred post-midnight when the group, led by Jitu Raghuvanshi, attempted to enter the temple after it was locked. The priest emphasized that he informed them of the closure, but they insisted on being let in and physically attacked him.

The altercation took place around 12:40 am. The priest reported that Raghuvanshi and his associates threatened his life when he resisted their entry. Furthermore, videos circulating on social media depicted cars with red beacons participating in the group and later seen inside the temple premises.

City Superintendent of Police Dinesh Agrawal confirmed that an investigation is underway and that a case has been filed against the assailants. Authorities are also reviewing footage captured by around 50 surveillance cameras installed around the temple to identify the attackers and assess the situation. The possibility of a connection to a BJP leader’s son is under scrutiny, as Agrawal stated the case is ongoing.

The incident at the Mata Tekri temple highlights serious concerns regarding security and adherence to temple hours in Madhya Pradesh. The involvement of individuals with potential political connections complicates the situation further. Authorities are actively investigating, utilizing camera footage to gather evidence and ensure accountability for the violent actions against the priest.
