Tragic Incident: Father Dies by Suicide Following Daughter’s Marriage Against Family’s Wishes

A 49-year-old medical store owner named Rishiraj alias Sanju Jaiswal tragically died by suicide in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, after his daughter married against his family’s wishes. Family members found him dead in his bedroom following a gunshot heard at 1 am, with the bullet wound to his temple.
Rishiraj’s daughter had recently left home with a neighbor. She was located in Indore and brought back, but during a court hearing, she claimed to have legally married her partner. Subsequent investigations revealed a note left by Rishiraj expressing his distress over her choice.
The note, written on his daughter’s Aadhaar card, contained emotional writings, including, “Harshita, you did wrong, I am leaving. I could have killed both of you, but how could I kill my daughter?” He also criticized the legal system’s handling of marriage disputes involving adult children.
Additional Superintendent of Police Niranjan Sharma described the incident as deeply tragic, indicating Rishiraj had shown signs of depression before his death. Rishiraj ran Babu Medical Store and is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
Following the suicide, a violent altercation occurred in the neighborhood as relatives of Rishiraj attacked the father of the young man who married his daughter. The police are investigating both the suicide and the assault, collecting evidence from the deceased’s phone and urging for calm in the area.
