The courtroom was secured, allowing only essential personnel as Judge Chander Jit Singh granted the NIA 18 days’ custody, slightly less than the 20 days requested.
Without legal representation initially, the judge assured Rana he would receive legal aid from the Delhi Legal Services Authority, appointing Advocate Piyush Sachdeva to defend him. Starting immediately, Rana faces rigorous questioning, conducted under dual camera surveillance. His interrogation schedule will be tightly structured, though breaks will be allowed. Reports indicate that eight central investigative and intelligence agencies are keen to interrogate him as part of their inquiries.
