A Bihar man, Mukesh Singh, has been arrested for murdering his daughter Sakshi, 25, after she eloped with her boyfriend to Delhi. Her body was found on April 10 in a locked bathroom, and Singh confessed to the crime after police investigated a foul smell emanating from their home.

A man from Samastipur, Bihar, identified as Mukesh Singh, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his daughter, 25-year-old Sakshi. The incident reportedly occurred on April 7, shortly after Sakshi fled to Delhi with her boyfriend, leading to anger from her father. Her body was discovered in a locked bathroom at their home on the night of April 10, 2025.

According to police reports, Sakshi’s maternal uncle, Vipin Kumar, revealed that she eloped with her boyfriend on March 4, who belonged to a different caste. The couple had been classmates in college. Singh, an ex-serviceman, initially persuaded Sakshi to return to Samastipur, but she mysteriously vanished shortly after her return.

Following concerns raised by Sakshi’s mother and suspecting her father’s involvement, the police launched an investigation. A foul odor prompted officers to investigate a locked bathroom, where they subsequently found her body. During questioning, Mukesh Singh confessed to the murder and expressed intentions of also harming Sakshi’s boyfriend, who was reportedly not in the village at the time.

This tragic incident highlights deep-rooted issues surrounding caste-based violence and the consequences of familial anger rooted in cultural norms. It reflects the dangers faced by individuals who challenge societal expectations in India, emphasizing the need for increased awareness and protective measures for those seeking autonomy in their relationships.
