In January, President Putin conveyed his best wishes for India’s Republic Day, reaffirming that Russian-Indian relations are characterized by a “special and privileged strategic partnership.” He is anticipated to visit India within the year to continue annual engagements with Indian leaders.
Both leaders, Putin and Modi, maintain consistent communication, engaging in calls every few months and meeting during international events. Prime Minister Modi visited Moscow for the 22nd Russia-India summit in July and attended the BRICS summit in Kazan in October.
