On March 24, 2025, Somei-Yoshino cherry blossoms began to bloom in Kochi and Kumamoto prefectures in Japan, as reported by the Japan Meteorological Agency. Both locations marked the earliest sightings of cherry blossoms this year, albeit one day later than usual. The Kochi Regional Meteorological Observatory noted that over 15 blossoms had bloomed on a monitored tree at Kochi Castle. Additionally, the weather across much of Japan was sunny, with maximum temperatures surpassing 25°C in several regions.

The early bloom of cherry blossoms in Kochi and Kumamoto indicates the onset of the sakura season in Japan. Although the flowering occurred slightly later than average, it is an important cultural event that attracts many visitors. The beautiful weather conditions are expected to enhance the viewing experience this season.
