Germany Confiscates Russian Tanker Linked to Sanctions-Evading Fleet

Germany has confiscated the Eventin tanker, part of Russia’s shadow fleet, carrying 100,000 tons of oil. The vessel was immobilized while traveling from a Russian port to Egypt. German authorities have seized the Panama-flagged tanker Eventin, loaded with 100,000 tons of oil, as part of their efforts to target Russia’s sanctions-dodging “shadow fleet.” The vessel, which experienced engine failure while en route from Ust-Luga in Russia to Egypt, was escorted to waters off Ruegen by German rescue vessels. The European Union has labeled the ship part of this shadow fleet since February.

Following the confiscation notice issued by the General Customs Directorate, Germany officially took ownership of the Eventin.
