A Merchant Navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, was murdered by his wife and her lover in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. After discovering his wife’s affair, Saurabh was killed, dismembered, and concealed in a cement-filled drum. The couple attempted to mislead authorities about his whereabouts, but police investigations led to their confession and recovery of the remains.
A shocking crime unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a Merchant Navy officer was brutally murdered by his wife and her lover. Saurabh Rajput was killed, dismembered, and his body was encased in a drum filled with cement due to an extramarital affair between his wife, Muskaan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla. Police investigations unveiled a dark narrative of infidelity, betrayal, and ruthlessness.
Saurabh and Muskaan’s marriage in 2016 was initially a love story, but tensions arose after Saurabh left his Merchant Navy career to spend more time with her. Family disagreements led them to move into a rented space. They welcomed a daughter in 2019, but soon after, Saurabh discovered Muskaan’s affair with his friend Sahil. This revelation caused significant strain on their marriage, raising the prospect of divorce, which Saurabh reconsidered for their child’s welfare. In 2023, he resumed his career abroad.
On February 24, Saurabh returned home to celebrate his daughter’s sixth birthday after being away for work. By this time, Muskaan and Sahil had plotted his murder. On March 4, Muskaan allegedly mixed sleeping pills into Saurabh’s food, enabling them to stab him while he slept. They dismembered his body, placing the remains in a drum and filling it with wet cement to conceal the crime.
To maintain the deception, Muskaan claimed Saurabh was vacationing at a hill station and even traveled with Sahil to Manali, posting photos on his social media to distract from their absence. However, when Saurabh failed to communicate with his family for several days, they reported him missing, prompting police intervention.
Following a complaint from Saurabh’s family, police apprehended Muskaan and Sahil. Under interrogation, they confessed, revealing the gruesome details of the murder. Efforts to physically extract the body from the cemented drum were complicated, requiring a drill machine for recovery 14 days after the crime.
Police have seized the remains for autopsy and acknowledged the profound grief faced by Saurabh’s family. Meerut City police chief Ayush Vikram Singh confirmed the arrest and detailed the investigative process that resulted in discovering the body’s location amid the disturbing case.
The case of Saurabh Rajput highlights the tragic consequences of betrayal and infidelity, leading to a heinous crime that involved murder and concealment. The swift police response following a missing person’s report enabled the recovery of the victim’s remains and the apprehension of the culprits. This incident serves as a grim reminder of the potential darkness in personal relationships and the extreme outcomes that can ensue from betrayal.
