A woman in Nalanda, Bihar, was caught on video stealing gold jewellery from a shop by swallowing it. Though caught on camera, she denied the theft and was released due to lack of complaints and evidence.

In a jewellery store in Nalanda, Bihar, an unusual incident occurred where a woman was caught stealing gold pieces. Onlookers reported that the shopkeepers were actively assisting customers, while the woman discreetly sampled jewellery before discreetly popping them into her mouth. This incident, captured in a video, transpired amidst the daily hustle outside the store, including children playing and other shoppers.

The incident happened on Wednesday and highlights the store’s attempt to ward off theft with a traditional string of chillies and lemon hanging from the ceiling. Despite these measures, the woman, who wore a red dupatta, successfully concealed her actions under the guise of shopping.

The woman utilized a red tray to try on various nose pins, quickly consuming them like snacks. After the shopkeeper noticed the missing jewellery, he confronted her, but she denied the theft. The establishment’s security footage revealed the woman swallowing the jewellery pieces.

Upon inspecting her mouth, the shopkeeper discovered several gold ornaments. Following the incident, both the accused woman and her accomplice were taken to the police station. Unfortunately, due to the lack of written complaints and sufficient evidence, the police released them, highlighting a gap in accountability for theft in such situations.

This incident illustrates the challenges faced by retailers in preventing theft, despite traditional safeguards. The woman’s method of theft underscores the need for enhanced security measures in retail environments to deter cunning theft tactics. The incident also raises questions about the legal processes involved in such theft cases, particularly concerning evidence and accountability.
