On Thursday, an explosion occurred at Chuo Spring’s Fujioka plant in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The local broadcaster CBC reported that the dust collector at the factory exploded shortly after 8 a.m., leading an employee to alert the fire department. A total of nineteen fire trucks were dispatched for the ongoing firefighting efforts.
Emergency responders found a male employee in cardiopulmonary arrest at the scene, who was later declared dead, although details regarding the victim’s age and identity are not yet known. Two additional employees, aged 52 and 44, suffered minor injuries as reported by local officials.
Chuo Spring’s factory specializes in producing springs for automobiles and had previously experienced another explosion in 2023; however, the most recent blast occurred in a different building than the prior incident. Investigators are currently probing the cause of the explosion to assess safety protocols going forward.
