A man in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, allegedly killed his daughter over her love affair, hanging her before burning her body. The act stemmed from frustration with her disobedience and family disapproval of her relationship. The father has surrendered, with police initiating legal proceedings.

In a tragic incident in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, a 55-year-old man allegedly killed his daughter, T Bharati, aged 20, due to frustration over her love affair. On March 1, Ramanjaneyulu hung Bharati at an isolated location in Kasapuram village and subsequently burned her body with petrol to conceal the crime.

Police reported that Bharati had been involved in a relationship with her boyfriend for five years, which was opposed by both families. Affected by the disobedience and threats of suicide from Bharati, her father acted on March 1, leading to her death.

At the time of her death, Bharati was pursuing an education in Kurnool, making her the only educated sibling among her three elder sisters, who had not received formal education. Her parents had high aspirations for her academic success.

After the incident, Ramanjaneyulu surrendered to the police, who are currently initiating legal actions under BNS Section 103. It was noted that he had been working as a snacks and breakfast vendor for his livelihood.

The incident highlights the tragic consequences of familial pressure and societal disapproval regarding personal relationships. The case underscores the need for addressing issues related to mental health and parental support in youth relationships, as well as the necessity of education for women in contemporary society.
