A real estate dealer from Ghaziabad, Kuldip Tyagi (46), tragically shot his wife, Anshu Tyagi, before taking his own life. He left a suicide note explaining his diagnosis of cancer and his reluctance to burden his family with the costs of uncertain treatment. Kuldip expressed his desire to stay with his wife, stating they had vowed to be together forever. The couple had two sons and Kuldip’s father, a retired police officer, now survives them.

The incident occurred around 11 am in their home located in the Radha Kunj society of Raj Nagar Extension. Their sons were present during the incident and were startled by the gunfire, leading them to their parents’ bedroom. Upon discovery, Kuldip was found on the floor, while Anshu was on the bed; both were later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A suicide note discovered at the scene detailed Kuldip’s cancer diagnosis that he had kept hidden from his family. The note stated, “I don’t want money to be wasted on my treatment because survival is uncertain,” and that he felt compelled to take his wife with him due to their vow to be together forever. Police have since seized the revolver used in the incident and are conducting an autopsy on the bodies.

Senior police officer Poonam Mishra confirmed that Kuldip used his licensed revolver to carry out the tragedy and emphasized that investigations into the case are ongoing. Public resources for mental health support have been provided, including hotlines from the Vandrevala Foundation and TISS iCall for those in need.

The tragic case of Kuldip and Anshu Tyagi highlights the devastating impact of mental health issues and the importance of support systems during critical times. It raises concerns over awareness regarding cancer and financial burdens associated with medical treatments. The incident underscores the need for accessible mental health resources and community care for families facing such crises.
