An air hostess reported being sexually assaulted while on ventilator support in an ICU at a Gurugram private hospital on April 6. The incident was revealed to police on April 13 after the victim, upon discharge, confided in her husband, leading him to notify the authorities. Investigations launched based on her complaints are currently ongoing as a case was filed at the Sadar Police Station.
The victim, 46 years old, was in Gurugram for a training program when her health declined due to a drowning incident, prompting her admission to a hospital. Afterward, on April 5, her husband moved her to another facility, where the alleged assault occurred. She described that during her time on the ventilator, she was unconscious and scared when hospital staff attacked her, with two nurses present.
Following her discharge on April 13, the victim’s husband reported the assault to police via the emergency number 112, subsequently lodging a formal complaint. Sandeep Kumar from the Gurugram police indicated that they had initiated an investigation, examining duty rosters and CCTV footage at the hospital to identify the perpetrator.
The police are actively working on this case, with steps already taken to record statements from the accused before a magistrate. Efforts to apprehend the suspect are underway. Inquiries made to the hospital authorities for comments on this sensitive issue met with silence, while security staff disclaimed any prior knowledge of the incident.
