A 24-year-old man was arrested for the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Rena Tegara in Saitama. The attack occurred as she returned home, and despite immediate medical attention, she died from her injuries. The suspect, Hiroyuki Taniuchi, has not yet spoken on the charges.

On Tuesday, the Saitama Prefectural Police arrested a 24-year-old man named Hiroyuki Taniuchi for the suspected murder of a 15-year-old high school girl, Rena Tegara. The incident occurred on Monday evening outside a residential building in Saitama where Taniuchi allegedly stabbed Tegara multiple times, primarily in her upper body.

Witnesses reported the attack around 8:15 p.m., with one calling to say, “a woman is being beaten” outside the condominium. Tegara’s family member also alerted authorities that “my sister has been stabbed with a knife.” Police found her bleeding and, despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries later.

A kitchen knife was recovered at the scene. Shortly after the stabbing, Taniuchi, wearing bloodstained clothing and with injuries to his hands, approached a nearby police box and was arrested. He has not disclosed any information regarding the charges against him.

The attack occurred in a residential area approximately 2 kilometers from Minami-Yono Station. An 18-year-old neighbor expressed shock, stating, “It’s really sad, especially since she lived in the same building” and mentioned that Tegara was a quiet girl who always greeted others without indication of any problems.
