Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, recently had a discussion with Sydney Mufamadi, the National Security Advisor to the President of South Africa. During their conversation, Yermak reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace, as illustrated by recent discussions between Ukrainian and American teams in Saudi Arabia. He noted, however, that Russia continues its aggression, prolonging the conflict and targeting Ukrainian cities and villages relentlessly.
Yermak brought attention to the severe consequences of a recent missile strike on Kryvyi Rih that resulted in the deaths of 20 civilians. He stated, “This demonstrates that Russia does not want this war to end. However, Ukraine maintains a constructive position,” highlighting Ukraine’s shared vision with American partners for a complete ceasefire and a focus on humanitarian efforts. These efforts include the return of children, and the release of prisoners of war and civilian detainees.
Additionally, the discussion covered the ongoing situation on the frontline, where Yermak mentioned the capture of two Chinese nationals fighting alongside Russian forces against Ukraine. He condemned this support for the occupiers, stating it is “absolutely unacceptable.” The dialogue stressed the importance of cooperation between the two nations and included planning for future high-level meetings to boost collaboration across various sectors.
