Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-Canadian businessman and former military doctor, is a key figure linked to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks that killed 166 people. He is a close associate of David Coleman Headley, one of the masterminds behind the attacks. Recently, a joint team from India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) brought Rana to India following his extradition from the United States after his last appeal was dismissed by the US Supreme Court.
Rana is expected to provide crucial evidence regarding Pakistan’s involvement in the 26/11 attacks during his trial in India. Both men were arrested by the FBI in 2009, rendering their connection to the Mumbai attacks publicly known. Headley later testified against Rana, defining his actions as supportive of the militant agenda led by Lashkar-e-Taiba.
