Fake Doctor Arrested in Madhya Pradesh for Patient Deaths and Fraud
Narendra John Camm, a fake doctor, was arrested for allegedly causing the deaths of seven patients through malpractice at a Madhya Pradesh hospital. In Madhya Pradesh, police arrested Narendra John Camm, a man accused of operating as a fake doctor. He allegedly performed medical procedures leading to the deaths of at least seven patients at Mission Hospital in Damoh district. The arrest followed the filing of a first information report (FIR) citing charges of forgery and cheating under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the MP Ayurvedic Council Act.
Police Superintendent Shrutkirti Somvanshi confirmed the arrest of Camm, also known as Narendra Yadav, from Prayagraj. His apprehension was facilitated by a cyber team after he evaded capture in multiple locations. Somvanshi noted, “After the registration of the FIR, our cyber team got active as this doctor…had a habit of running away from one place to another.”
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is conducting a probe into the patient deaths. A complaint lodged by chief medical officer MK Jain alleged that Camm performed unregistered procedures, including angiography and angioplasty, without appropriate medical council registration. Suspicions of forgery surfaced as investigators couldn’t verify his medical credentials.
As investigations progressed, it was reported that patients died following the procedures Camm performed. The team found discrepancies in his medical degrees, mainly lacking essential registration numbers typically present in official documents. The investigation team was assembled to further scrutinize the claims made against him.
Camm’s alleged activities first came to public attention through social media when concerns were raised about the death of seven patients due to his practices. Additionally, allegations surfaced from Pradeep Shukla regarding previous wrongful surgery performed by Camm, adding to the accusations of malpractice and fraud.
Camm was reportedly hired by Mission Hospital through an agency and had vacated his position without notice. The hospital administration expressed their intent to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation, stating, “We are supporting the administration in the investigation.” Meanwhile, the NHRC continues to gather statements from affected families as part of their inquiry into the matter.
