No suicide note was found at the scene.

Rahul reportedly jumped from the fifth floor of his hostel at approximately 11:55 PM. Local police responded quickly and transported him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Rahul’s mother shared concerns raised from a text message she received from him before his death. She indicated he expressed worry over his family’s well-being. His mother attempted to contact him but found his phone was off. A friend later informed her that Rahul was en route to the hospital. Rahul had not attended classes for six months, a fact that was disclosed to his family only after the incident.

Despite his struggles, Rahul had previously achieved a commendable All India Rank of 52 in the JEE Mains exam under the Economically Weaker Sections category. His family, including his father—who operates a local tiffin business—was deeply involved in his education and communication, often facilitated through video calls.

Following this incident, students at IIIT Allahabad organized protests, voicing their concerns about mental health and safety on campus. In response, the institute has established a three-member panel to investigate the suicide and has expressed a commitment to support students who require emotional or psychological assistance. Additionally, helplines were provided for those in need of mental health support.
