In Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, a 22-year-old woman, Pragati Yadav, allegedly conspired to murder her husband, Dilip, shortly after their forced marriage. Pragati, along with her lover Anurag Yadav, who had been in a romantic relationship for four years, felt desperate after being married against their will on March 5.
On March 19, Dilip was found injured with bullet wounds in a field and was rushed to various hospitals, where he succumbed to his injuries a day later. Following his death, his brother reported the incident to the police, prompting an investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding Dilip’s injuries.
Investigation revealed that Pragati and Anurag, unable to meet after the marriage, sought to eliminate Dilip to be together. They hired contract killer Ramaji Chaudhary, paying him Rs 2 lakh to execute the murder. Ramaji, along with accomplices, assaulted Dilip in a field before shooting him and fleeing the scene.
Authorities identified the suspects through CCTV footage, leading to their arrests. Seized items included two pistols, four live cartridges, a motorcycle, mobile phones, personal identification, and Rs 3,000 in cash. The police continue to pursue additional suspects linked to the crime, who remain unaccounted for.
