Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, arrested for murdering Muskaan’s husband in Meerut, were long-time drug abusers who consumed substances before the crime. Following the brutal stabbing and body dismemberment of Saurabh Rajput, they traveled under false pretenses, only to be apprehended after Muskaan confessed. The investigation reveals severe implications of drug use in domestic contexts.

In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, two individuals, Muskaan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla, were arrested for the murder of Muskaan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, on March 4. Investigators revealed that both suspects are long-term drug abusers of both dry and injectable substances, having consumed drugs prior to the crime. They had a history of drug use since 2019 and had sought out more drugs following the murder, traveling to Kasol in Himachal Pradesh.

Authorities found that Muskaan and Sahil had previously traveled to Manali and Kasol for drug acquisitions. Post-arrest, they are under counseling and treatment for withdrawal symptoms. Despite their request to share a jail barrack, they were denied due to regulations. Reports from a cab driver indicated Sahil consumed alcohol daily, while Muskaan also drank during their return journey.

On the day of the murder, the couple brutally stabbed Saurabh three times in the heart before severing his body parts and sealing them in a drum with cement. Investigative findings suggested Saurabh was drugged prior to his murder, with Muskaan allegedly tampering with his prescription to procure sleeping pills.

Following the murder, Muskaan and Sahil misled Saurabh’s family, sending texts from his phone while vacationing in Shimla and Manali. The murder was uncovered on March 18 after Muskaan confessed to her mother, prompting police involvement. Doctors confirmed the severity of the attack, noting Saurabh suffered fatal injuries, and the cause of death was identified as shock and excessive bleeding.

Muskaan and Saurabh were married in 2016 and had a six-year-old daughter. Following the incident, the child reportedly told neighbors, “Papa is in the drum,” implying she may have witnessed something. Now, Muskaan seeks a government lawyer for her defense, citing disconnection from her family due to the incident.

The tragic murder of Saurabh Rajput by his wife Muskaan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla highlights significant issues regarding drug abuse and domestic violence. The couple’s prior drug use and premeditated actions culminated in a horrific crime, which was subsequently concealed with deceitful maneuvers. Saurabh’s death underscores the impact of substance abuse on familial relationships and the dire consequences it can produce.
