Serhii Leshchenko announced that the Ukrainian delegation is in Saudi Arabia for continued consultations on crucial issues such as mutual ceasefire agreements and prisoner exchanges. The talks are technical and may last for an extended period, with no immediate high-profile outcomes expected. The arrival of the Russian delegation adds another layer to the negotiations which recently concluded between Ukrainian and American teams.

The Ukrainian delegation is currently in Saudi Arabia for ongoing consultations, as stated by Serhii Leshchenko, advisor to Ukraine’s Presidential Office. The purpose of remaining in Saudi Arabia is to facilitate discussions following negotiations between the United States and Russia. These consultations could lead to higher-level peace meetings regarding Ukraine, although they may not yield immediate results or notable announcements.

Leshchenko emphasized that the discussions in Riyadh are primarily technical and may extend over a long time. He clarified that negotiations typically do not reach a conclusion in one day, often taking months or even years, similar to longstanding dialogues in other regions. Regular meetings are anticipated, without guaranteed public statements or press briefings.

Key topics of the discussions include agreements on mutual ceasefires, ensuring neither party attacks essential infrastructure, including the ports of Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Greater Odesa. Additionally, negotiations are focused on the exchange of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians held by occupying forces, as well as the return of Ukrainian children.

The talks between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia concluded on March 23. Following this, the Russian delegation arrived in Riyadh on March 24 to engage in negotiations with the U.S. delegation.

The ongoing consultations in Saudi Arabia are focused on technical discussions related to ceasefire agreements and the exchange of prisoners. The Ukrainian delegation aims to facilitate peace negotiations and ensure security for key regions. The outcome of these discussions remains uncertain and may involve regular meetings without public disclosures. The Russian delegation’s arrival marks another step in the broader negotiation process involving multiple parties.
