General Mykola Malomuzh described the new Russian negotiators, Karasin and Beseda, as highly dangerous and strategically prepared, noting their longstanding hostile actions towards Ukraine. He emphasized the need for an enhanced Ukrainian negotiation team comprising experienced diplomats and intelligence experts to effectively counter Russian tactics.

General Mykola Malomuzh, former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service, assessed the new Russian negotiators, Karasin and Beseda, on Espresso TV. He emphasized their increased danger compared to previous representatives, noting that these negotiators have a lengthy history of hostile actions against Ukraine, including efforts to control political and economic structures since Ukraine’s independence.

Malomuzh outlined their strategic plans, which have included executing operations to capture Crimea and other territories, influenced by the FSB and Russian intelligence agencies. He highlighted Karasin’s role as a direct agent of the Russian SVR, currently acting head of foreign affairs within the State Duma, showcasing the heightened risk level in negotiations.

He warned that these well-prepared negotiators not only possess aggressive intentions but are also guided by the current operational landscape. Malomuzh suggested that the Ukrainian negotiation team must be significantly enhanced, incorporating skilled diplomats and intelligence personnel familiar with Russian tactics to counteract their strategies effectively.

Malomuzh referenced General Beseda’s past miscalculation regarding the swift outcome of the invasion, which resulted in his dismissal. Meanwhile, he remarked on the ongoing aggressive posture of the FSB under Beseda’s leadership, who now plays a key role in the negotiations with the U.S. alongside Karasin, whose diplomatic experience traces back to earlier engagements with Ukraine.

The dialogue regarding the Russian negotiation strategy underscores a critical juncture in the Ukraine conflict, highlighting the need for a robust and informed Ukrainian response. General Malomuzh’s insights emphasize the strategic importance of understanding the backgrounds and intentions of Russian negotiators, particularly in fostering a more resilient and proactive diplomatic approach for Ukraine’s interests.
