Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla are accused of murdering her husband Saurabh Rajput and hiding his body in a cement-sealed drum. They have been denied a request to stay together in jail. Suffering withdrawal symptoms, they have avoided interaction with other inmates while being monitored. The murder reportedly stemmed from fears of ending their drug use, leading to a gruesome crime facilitated by social media deception.

Muskaan Rastogi and her partner Sahil Shukla, accused of murdering her husband Saurabh Rajput, have been denied a request to stay together in prison. They are currently held in separate but adjoining cells at Meerut’s Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail. Jail authorities cited the manual prohibiting shared housing for inmates, even if they are a couple.

According to prison sources, Sahil is experiencing withdrawal symptoms and appears restless, while both individuals avoid interacting with other inmates. Muskaan initially refused food on her first day but has since resumed eating. They have received counseling at a de-addiction center within the jail, where staff monitor their behavior closely.

The couple was arrested last week for the alleged murder of Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer. They reportedly drugged Saurabh before stabbing him and dismembering his body, which they sealed in a drum with cement. Following the crime, they traveled to Himachal Pradesh and used Saurabh’s phone to post misleading social media updates.

Muskaan and Saurabh had a love marriage in 2016 and share a six-year-old daughter. Their relationship had deteriorated, particularly after Saurabh learned of Muskaan’s affair with Sahil in 2019. Although he considered divorcing her, he hesitated for their daughter’s sake. Muskaan’s parents claim the murder was motivated by a fear that Saurabh would end their drug use. They maintain that Saurabh supported Muskaan and deserve justice, while his family has long held animosity toward her, believing she married him for financial gain.

In summary, Muskaan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla face serious charges for the brutal murder of Saurabh Rajput, with indication of psychological strain while in custody. Their request to be housed together in prison was denied, and both are currently undergoing monitoring and counseling. The case raises critical concerns regarding the motivations behind the crime, including issues of personal relationships and substance abuse.
