Meerut Woman Allegedly Drugs Husband Before Murdering Him

Muskaan Rastogi is accused of altering a prescription to buy sleeping pills that were used to drug and murder her husband, Saurabh Rajput, in Meerut. Following the crime, she attempted to mislead authorities during a vacation with her lover, Sahil Shukla. After confessing to her mother, both were arrested. The investigation involves scrutinizing pharmacy records for potential legal violations.
In Meerut, a woman named Muskaan Rastogi allegedly altered her husband’s prescription to obtain sleeping pills used to drug him prior to his murder. This incident, which occurred early in March, was reported by officials investigating the case. It has been revealed that Muskaan purchased the pills from Usha Medical Store, prompting police to investigate the store’s sale records to determine if the medications required a prescription.
Meerut drug inspector Piyush Sharma stated that authorities are analyzing two years of sales data from Usha Medical Store. If any violations are identified, the establishment could face legal repercussions, including potential license revocation. Medications such as sleeping pills are strictly regulated and must be dispensed with a valid prescription, requiring stores to keep thorough records.
On March 4, Muskaan and her lover, Sahil Shukla, fatally stabbed her husband, Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer, and dismembered his body, encasing the remains in a drum with cement. It is reported that Saurabh was drugged before the violent attack. Following the murder, the pair attempted to create an alibi by vacationing in Himachal Pradesh and sending false messages from Saurabh’s phone to mislead his family.
The crime was uncovered on March 18 when Muskaan confessed to her mother, leading to her arrest along with Sahil. During the post-mortem examination, doctors noted that Saurabh endured three forceful stab wounds to the heart and showed signs of a brutal assault, including body dismemberment. The medical report indicated that he died from shock and excessive blood loss.
In her personal life, Muskaan had married Saurabh in 2016 against familial objections, and they share a six-year-old daughter. Questions arose regarding the girl’s understanding of her father’s fate, as she reportedly mentioned to neighbors that “Papa is in the drum.”
Muskaan has since requested a government-appointed lawyer for her defense, citing estrangement from her family due to the incident. According to Senior Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma, Muskaan expressed her isolation and the absence of family support in her plea. Meanwhile, there’s been no similar request from her accomplice Sahil, though both wished to remain together in prison, a request denied by officials.
Muskaan Rastogi allegedly manipulated a prescription to obtain drugs, leading to the murder of her husband. The subsequent investigation revealed details of the crime, including bodily dismemberment and the couple’s attempt to mislead authorities. With details concerning the legal proceedings and emotional impacts on their child, this case highlights both the criminal act and its societal consequences. Muskaan’s plea for a government lawyer underscores her current isolation from family support.
