French President Emmanuel Macron praised Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky for his acceptance of a ceasefire proposal, urging Russia to reciprocate. “Enough deaths. Enough lives destroyed. Enough destruction. The guns must fall silent,” Macron stated on social media.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy emphasized the need for a “full and unconditional ceasefire now,” expressing skepticism about Putin’s seriousness in pursuing peace. He indicated that the UK and its allies possess significant leverage to compel Russia to engage seriously in negotiations.
As the Trump-Putin talks approach, the White House remained optimistic about achieving peace in Ukraine.
