Uzbekistan is now the main production hub for the Chevrolet Tracker due to production halts in China. General Motors closed its Shenyang plant, focusing on localized production, which has reached 50% in Uzbekistan. The Tracker is also produced in Brazil and Argentina.

Uzbekistan has emerged as the primary production center for the Chevrolet Tracker crossover in Eurasia, taking over production after its halt in China. Previously manufactured at the SAIC-GM Norsom plant in China, production was discontinued there due to a decline in domestic demand as General Motors shifted focus to other market segments.

In a recent decision, General Motors announced the closure of its Shenyang plant in northeastern China, where it produced both Buick GL8 minivans and Chevrolet Trackers for the local market. This move reflects the automaker’s strategy to consolidate production amid changing market conditions.

The production of the Chevrolet Tracker in Uzbekistan has achieved a localization level of 50%, highlighting the country’s growing automotive capabilities. Besides its operations in Eurasia, the Tracker is also manufactured in Latin America, specifically at plants located in Brazil and Argentina.

Uzbekistan has solidified its role as a key player in the production of the Chevrolet Tracker crossover, following the closure of similar operations in China. The plant’s successful localization efforts at 50% and expansion into Latin America signify a strategic pivot for General Motors in response to shifts in market demand.
