In Vadodara, Gujarat, a tragic accident occurred when a drunk driver, Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, crashed into two-wheelers, resulting in one woman’s death and injuries to seven others. The incident transpired on Thursday night in the Karelibag area and was captured on CCTV footage, leading to the immediate arrest of Chaurasia and an accomplice.
Chaurasia, a law student at MS University, was reportedly speeding at over 100 km/h before losing control of his black car. The vehicle collided with several two-wheelers, killing a woman instantly and leaving others hospitalized with injuries.
Joint CP Leena Patil confirmed the arrest, stating, “A 4-wheeler rammed into a 2-wheeler and one woman died in the accident. The accused driver has been caught. Police are conducting further probe…this is a case of drunk driving.”
Witness accounts detail a scene of chaos as the speeding car approached Amrapali Complex, causing panic among pedestrians. Eyewitnesses noted that some managed to flee but were unable to protect others from harm.
Post-accident footage circulated online displays Chaurasia behaving erratically, allegedly shouting, “another round, another round,” while chanting “Om Namah Shivay.” The situation escalated, with an angry crowd confronting him until police intervention.
Authorities also arrested Pranshu Chauhan, the owner of the vehicle, suspecting both men were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
