Russia Launches Strikes on Ukraine Immediately After Ceasefire Agreement

Russia executed multiple missile strikes on Ukraine shortly after Ukraine agreed to a temporary ceasefire following US-mediated talks. Key attacks occurred in Odesa and Dnipro, resulting in fatalities and damage to infrastructure. Ukraine continues to push for US involvement in persuading Russia to honor the ceasefire proposal.
On March 11, following Ukraine’s agreement on a 30-day ceasefire negotiated with US representatives in Saudi Arabia, the Russian military launched significant strikes across Ukraine. One notable attack took place on Odesa Sea Trade Port, resulting in the deaths of four foreign crew members.
Around 8:15 PM in Odesa, an air raid alert prompted a missile strike, confirmed by the Ukrainian Air Force. The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority reported that the strike killed four crew members of the vessel MJ Pinar, which was loading wheat at the time. Among the deceased were three Syrians and one Ukrainian.
Russian assaults also hit infrastructure in Dnipro, damaging two private homes. Preliminary reports indicated that Ukrainian defenses shot down 12 of 20 attacking drones. In Dnipro, approximately ten houses were damaged, along with shattered windows at a kindergarten and school.
Earlier in the day, Kryvyi Rih experienced explosions, targeting an infrastructure facility and resulting in one fatality; a 47-year-old woman was killed, and two individuals were hospitalized.
Anticipating Russian attacks, air defense systems engaged during the night in the Kyiv region, preventing fatalities but causing fires from debris. A residential home and a furniture store were affected, though authorities confirmed no casualties.
Late Tuesday, Ukraine accepted a US 30-day ceasefire proposal, with plans to lift military aid restrictions and resume intelligence sharing. Both parties agreed to expedite negotiations on Ukrainian minerals, with President Zelensky asserting the need for US efforts to persuade Russia. He stated, “Ukraine welcomes this proposal, we consider it positive, we are ready to take such a step.”
The article details the Russian military’s aggressive response to Ukraine’s recent agreement for a ceasefire, resulting in missile strikes across various Ukrainian cities, including Odesa and Kryvyi Rih, with fatalities and infrastructural damage. Despite these actions, Ukraine remains hopeful due to diplomatic discussions with the US to maintain a temporary ceasefire and enhance military support against ongoing aggressions. The situation highlights the complexities surrounding ceasefire negotiations in a conflict marked by consistent violence.
