A live streamer in Tokyo, Sato Airi, was killed during a broadcast by a 42-year-old man, Takano Kenichi, who allegedly harbored resentment towards her. He attacked her with a knife, leading to her death despite medical efforts. Takano claimed to have lent her money and followed her live stream, but denies intending to kill her.

A tragic incident occurred in Tokyo when a live streamer was fatally attacked during a broadcast. Authorities report that Sato Airi, a 22-year-old from Tama City, was stabbed multiple times by a 42-year-old man during her live stream in the Takadanobaba area of Shinjuku. Despite immediate medical attention, she succumbed to injuries to her head, neck, and stomach.

Tokyo police swiftly arrested Takano Kenichi, the assailant from Oyama City in Tochigi Prefecture, initially for attempted murder, later amending the charge to murder. Investigators noted that surveillance footage revealed Takano used a survival knife to assault Sato multiple times.

Takano disclosed that he had traveled to Tokyo after discovering Sato’s live broadcast along the Yamanote Line, having tracked her online. He claimed to have lent her over 2 million yen (approximately $13,600) for her cell phone bills and other expenses, expressing frustration over her lack of repayment but denying any intent to kill her.

The incident highlights a disturbing case of violence connected to online personalities and personal grievances. Authorities underscore the importance of monitoring interactions between fans and streamers to prevent such tragic outcomes in the future.
