The mayor of Ofunato City in Iwate Prefecture, northeastern Japan, has announced that the wildfires that began 11 days ago are now contained. Despite this positive development, evacuation orders remain in effect for the Sanrikucho Ryori district and three areas in the Akasakicho district, impacting a total of 2,424 residents from 979 households. All evacuation orders are expected to be lifted by noon on Monday.
