A pregnant woman was allegedly raped by a police constable in Jaipur while attempting to file a complaint against her neighbor. The constable misled her into a hotel where he assaulted her in the presence of her son. Following her heroic step to report the incident to higher authorities, legal action is underway against the accused.

A 32-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly raped by a constable from the Sanganer police station in Jaipur while she was accompanied by her minor son. This event occurred after she had gone to file a report against her neighbor for physical assault. The incident took place in a hotel, where the accused constable, Bhaga Ram (48), reportedly took her hostage.

According to additional police commissioner Vinod Kumar Sharma, the constable misled the victim into thinking she was going to the police station to officially record her statement on the FIR she had filed against a neighbor the previous night. Instead, he took her and her three-year-old son to a hotel where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim reported that Ram also threatened her to prevent her from filing an official complaint. She found the strength to approach the commissioner of police, Biju George Joseph, later that night, leading to her filing charges against the constable, including rape, blackmail, and abduction under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following the complaint, a medical examination was organized for the woman, and the police are actively interrogating the accused while promising appropriate action.

This tragic incident highlights severe flaws in police conduct and the vulnerability of women in seeking justice. The immediate response from the victim to seek help demonstrates courage, and authorities are now faced with the responsibility to address and rectify this heinous act. The ongoing investigation aims to ensure justice is served and to reinforce accountability within the law enforcement sector.
