Hampi Rape Case: Arrest of Third Accused Following Disturbing Assault

The incident occurred on March 6, where an Israeli tourist and a female companion were assaulted while stargazing near the Tungabhadra canal. The arrested individual had fled the scene following the crime.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah strongly condemned the incident, labeling it a “heinous crime.” He reported that immediate action was taken by law enforcement to apprehend the suspects and initiate a thorough investigation. Two initial arrests were made prior to the third arrest.
On the night of the attack, three men approached the tourist group, initially inquiring about directions. When the group could not assist, they were robbed, and in an ensuing altercation, the victims were pushed into the canal. A homestay operator and a female Israeli tourist were subsequently assaulted, while their male companions faced physical danger, with one confirmed deceased.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar echoed Siddaramaiah’s sentiments, committing to the strictest legal actions against the perpetrators and assuring that the investigation is being handled with utmost seriousness by the police.
