Elderly Man Commits Suicide by Jumping into Grandson’s Funeral Pyre in Madhya Pradesh

In a tragic incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, an elderly man, Ramavatar, allegedly took his own life by jumping into the funeral pyre of his grandson, Abhayraj Yadav, who had previously hanged himself after murdering his wife, Savita Yadav. The incident occurred in Siholia village, as reported by police officials on Saturday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gayatri Tiwari explained that Abhayraj, aged 34, committed suicide on Friday following the killing of his 30-year-old wife. The last rites for both individuals were conducted on the same evening. Ramavatar, overwhelmed with grief from the loss of his grandson, reportedly committed suicide the following morning by leaping into the burning pyre where Abhayraj’s body was cremated.
Authorities have confirmed that Ramavatar’s charred remains were located on the pyre. The motive behind Savita’s murder remains unclear, with investigations into both the murder and the subsequent suicide ongoing.
