Bodies of Three Civilians Discovered in Terror-Prone Jammu & Kashmir

On Saturday, the bodies of three individuals, including a 14-year-old boy named Varun Singh, were discovered in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua district after they had been missing for three days in an area known for terrorist activity. Police reported that Yogesh Singh, Darshan Singh, and Varun vanished while heading to a marriage ceremony in Billawar town on Wednesday evening.
An extensive search operation was conducted by the Army and local police to locate the missing trio. Reports indicated that one individual had reached out to his family two days ago, stating they were lost in the woods while trying to return. Unfortunately, their bodies were later located in a water body near the Lohai Malhar area using drone technology, with the cause of death awaiting postmortem examination.
Yogesh and Darshan were from Marhoon, while Varun hailed from Dehota, all located near Billawar. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson RS Pathania condemned the incident as a “cold-blooded murder” by terrorists. He asserted evidence points to militants being responsible for the killings and vowed that perpetrators would face justice.
On Friday, BJP legislator Satesh Sharma raised the concern in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, urging the government for answers regarding the missing civilians. The region has a significant terrorist presence and has seen numerous terror-related incidents in recent years, including the discovery of two civilians’ bodies in the same area last month.
