The attempted assassination of Uzbek political figure Komiljon Allamjanov has revealed complex ties between political factions and possible Chechen connections. Following a botched shooting, four suspects were arrested, one of whom claimed a monetary motive in a viral video. Media coverage is notably limited as authorities maintain tight control over information regarding the investigation.

On October 27, Uzbeks participated in elections overshadowed by an attempted assassination in Tashkent a day earlier. Video emerged of two men claiming involvement, generating skepticism and intrigue amidst a backdrop of gagged local media.

Uzbek authorities confirmed the arrest of four suspects connected to the shooting of political figure Komiljon Allamjanov. Reports indicate that Allamjanov, close to President Mirziyoev’s daughter, had been embroiled in a power struggle with rival Otabek Umarov.

Allamjanov, who recently announced his resignation from the administration’s Information Policy Department, had advocated for reforms that displeased many. On October 26, gunmen shot at his vehicle, leading to speculation about the motives and connections of his assailants.

The attackers, including Shokhrukh Ahmedov, used scooters to flee the scene. Later, they filmed a statement suggesting monetary motivation for their actions. This video, while contradictory, fueled rumors of a self-plotted attack by Allamjanov.

Law enforcement sources, however, deem these theories unfounded, pointing to Ahmedov’s past arrest in Turkey related to an assassination plot tied to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

Ahmedov’s connections raise questions, especially given the duo’s flight to a nightclub owned by associates of Mirziyoev’s family amid conflicts arising from alleged corruption linked to Umarov.

Despite the severity of the attempted assassination, media coverage remains minimal. Observers call for clarity from high officials, suggesting the case merits serious attention given its potential implications for the ruling elite and internal power dynamics in Uzbekistan.

The attempted assassination of Komiljon Allamjanov has unfolded amidst a complex web of political rivalry and corruption in Uzbekistan. The incident has raised significant questions regarding motive and affiliations, particularly concerning potential Chechen links and the ruling family’s involvement. Despite the seriousness of the matter, official communication remains sparse, leaving the narrative heavily reliant on unverified sources and speculation.
