According to Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Police, Shekar T Tekkannanavar, an event organizer sought permission for the street performance but was denied due to concerns regarding the area’s high traffic. Sheeran later took to social media to assert that they had indeed received approval to perform there. He expressed his disappointment but affirmed he would still go ahead with his scheduled concert later that night.

Sheeran’s performance in Bengaluru is part of a 15-day tour across India. Prior to this impromptu event, he had already performed in cities like Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai, with upcoming shows planned in Shillong and New Delhi. His concert later that night also featured Indian singer Shilpa Rao, marking another collaboration in his international career.
