Her husband, Vikas Tyagi, had already been jailed based on one of her earlier complaints.
The series of allegations began in June when the woman accused Tyagi, who was her live-in partner, of rape under the pretense of marriage. Initially, she claimed to be pregnant and stated that the child died due to the assault. However, her narrative changed significantly during judicial testimony, where she admitted to a consensual relationship and later sought to withdraw her claims against him.
By August, the woman approached law enforcement again, alleging threats from Tyagi and his family, which led her to alter her initial statements. Later, she even claimed to have married Tyagi and requested that the police cease any action against him. Subsequently, she filed fresh complaints in January, escalating her allegations to include attempted murder and gang-rape.
On February 25, she made her most severe accusations yet, stating that she was kidnapped and gang-raped by three of Tyagi’s friends. However, a review of CCTV footage showed discrepancies, including her normal behavior after purportedly being attacked. Call records further confirmed that the accused were not present during the alleged crime.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that the medical examination found no substantiation for the woman’s claims, indicating that the charges were fabricated. The police assessed the motive behind her complaints, suggesting they could be tied to disputes over living arrangements. Consequently, the woman was arrested, while her husband remains incarcerated on unrelated charges related to her earlier accusations.
